Client and context
NIBD Hospital is a healthcare institution in Pakistan. Its leadership engaged Zest Experience to revisit the foundations that define the organisation: what it aspires to be, why it exists, what it stands for, and what it expects of its people.
Organisational need
An organisation's vision, mission and values only guide performance when they are clear, shared and connected to how people actually work. The need was for the leadership team to review these foundations together and translate them into competencies and behaviours that could shape everyday practice.
Audience
NIBD Hospital's leadership team.
Zest's intervention
Over a structured two-day engagement, Zest Experience facilitated the hospital's leadership through a process to review, redefine and rewrite five interconnected elements:
- 1Vision
Where the hospital aspires to be.
- 2Mission
What it exists to do, and for whom.
- 3Values
The principles that guide decisions and conduct.
- 4Competencies
The capabilities people need to deliver on the mission.
- 5Behaviours
What the values and competencies look like in everyday work.
Rather than presenting leaders with a framework to adopt, the facilitation helped the leadership team examine the existing statements, debate what should change, and build the new versions themselves, so that the outcome reflected the organisation's own thinking and was owned by its leaders.
Organisational development, not training
This was organisational development work: leaders shaping the foundations of their own organisation.
The engagement connected strategic direction (vision and mission) with organisational culture (values) and the people agenda (competencies and behaviours), creating a single, coherent framework rather than separate statements.
Outputs
The engagement produced a redefined and rewritten set of five elements: vision, mission, values, competencies and behaviours.
The final wording belongs to NIBD Hospital and is not reproduced here. No measured organisational outcomes are claimed.
